David Woodle, CEO and Chairman

Prior to joining NanoHorizons, David Woodle was Chairman and CEO of NASDAQ-listed C-COR Incorporated, a top-tier global provider of communications equipment and management systems to the cable industry. During his nine years at C-COR, Mr. Woodle oversaw 14 strategic acquisitions and raised $250 million through three public offerings, repositioning the company from a one-product, US-focused manufacturer to a multi-product, diversified solutions provider with a worldwide customer base. The transition led to a successful acquisition by the ARRIS Corporation in 2007. Mr. Woodle also spent 21 years at executive and technical management positions within the Raytheon Corporation, addressing Department of Defense markets for real-time information systems. He earned his BS in Computer Science from Penn State University in 1977 and is a member of the ARRIS Board of Directors.

Daniel J. Hayes, PhD, President/COO and Board Member

Dr. Daniel Hayes, one of NanoHorizons' founders and an inventor of its technology, is a graduate of Penn State University with a BS focusing on life sciences, and a PhD in Engineering Science and Mechanics. Dr Hayes has extensive experience in the development and characterization of nanomaterials, molecular biology, and developmental neuroscience. His scientific endeavors include work at New York University, Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital, and Case Western Reserve University. He has authored numerous journal articles and holds several US patents. Dr. Hayes joined NanoHorizons in 2004 as the Director of Operations after the completion of his doctoral work.

James L. Delattre, PhD Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing

Dr. James Delattre received his BS with honors from Penn State University, where he studied inorganic, high-pressure chemistry and Russian language. After working in the Low-k Dielectrics Group at Novellus Systems, Inc. in Santa Clara, California, he earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on processes for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from semiconductor manufacturing and the development of new synthetic techniques for the solid state. Following postdoctoral work investigating the plasma treatment of polymers at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche at the University of Bari, Italy, Dr. Delattre joined the research team at NanoHorizons as Product Development Manager in 2005. He is the author of over a dozen peer reviewed scientific articles and holds several patents.

Roland Thibodeau, Vice President, Sales-Health Care

Mr. Thibodeau has over 30 years of experience in strategic sales and marketing and sales management in a variety of industries. He was a co-founder of JNI Corporation, where he successfully steered the annual sales of the company from $500,000 to $102,000,000 in five years. Prior to joining NanoHorizons, he was the co-founder of a sales and marketing consulting firm specializing in providing senior marketing and sales expertise to start-up companies, small companies, and new divisions within larger companies. Mr. Thibodeau’s experience also includes sales of complex telecommunications equipment to the US military and working for Chemical Bank.

Terry M. Flanagan, PhD, Board Member

Dr. Flanagan is a Partner in Pulsar Ventures, LLC. Dr Flanagan was the President and Chief Executive Officer of JNI Corporation from the founding of the company in February 1997 through November 2000. During his tenure, the company grew from seven people to a profitable concern with over 200 employees and revenues exceeding $100M annually. He led the company through a successful IPO in 1999, and a secondary offering in 2000. Subsequently, Dr. Flanagan served as President, CEO, and Chairman of LightSand Communications, Inc., managing the development of multi-protocol routing products for storage area networks. Dr. Flanagan received a BS in Physics from the University of Santa Clara, and MS and PhD from Purdue University.

Thomas A. Penn, Board Member

Mr. Penn joined MVP in 2000 from Boston Millennia Partners, a private equity firm where he was a Partner. He has served on numerous MVP company boards including Andrews International, Northern Contours, Coffin Turbo Pump, Implex, and GCA Services Group. Mr. Penn has over 20 years of experience founding, managing and investing in healthcare businesses. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Penn was President and CEO of Tektagen, Inc., a leading contract services firm serving the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, which was successfully sold to Charles River Laboratories, Inc. Prior to Tektagen, he was President of Independence Ventures, Inc., a firm that specialized in starting and building high-potential, technology-based companies. Mr. Penn is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Edward M Frymoyer, PhD, Board Member

Dr. Frymoyer is a founder and Managing Partner of Pulsar Ventures, LLC that was an initial investor inNanoHorizons. He is also a board member of Hanson Technologies, Inc., a Carlisle, Pennsylvania corporation. He was a founder of Brocade Communications, Inc. and served as a board member for JNI Corporation, both of which were highly successful IPOs in the storage networking business. Dr. Frymoyer is a Distinguished Alumni of Penn State University from which he has two degrees—a BS in Engineering Science and a PhD in Physics. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Penn State Research Foundation, Vice Chairman of the Eberly College of Science Advisory Board, and Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Advisory Board for the College of Information Sciences and Technologies. He is also a member of the advisory board to the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos.

Kevin Harter, Board Member

Kevin Harter is Senior Vice President of the Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central Pennsylvania (LSG), an early-stage investor in life science businesses. He is a board member of Prosanos Corporation, NanoHorizons, Xbio Systems, and Ras Therapeutics, representing the interests of the LSG. Mr. Harter is Chairman of the Board of Saladax Biomedical Inc., a personalized chemotherapy management company. He is also a board observer at GlucoLight Corporation, Hanson Technologies, and Solarity, Inc. Mr. Harter was previously co-founder and COO of Keystone Medical Systems, the largest independent supplier of information technology solutions to physicians, prior to its acquisition by Continental Medical Systems (previously NYSE:CMS). For his efforts at Keystone, he was awarded the Inc. Magazine/Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1994. He was a founding director of The Legacy Bank of Harrisburg and served on its board and the board of the Legacy Trust Company until its acquisition by FNB Corporation (NYSE:FNB) in 2006. He has been an active participant in the formation of over 30 companies. Mr. Harter holds a B.S. in Information Systems and an MBA from Penn State University. He serves as a Director of the Board of Penn State Harrisburg (1997–2009) and served as its Chair from 2003-2007. He has provided professional services to both a Pennsylvania Republican and Democratic Governor, and served as an advisor for technology-based economic development for the Province of Ontario, Canada. Mr. Harter serves on numerous advisory boards in the areas of technology, education, and healthcare.

Charles C. Pearson, Board Member

Charles Pearson is the retired Chairman of the Board/CEO of Waypoint Financial. He held executive positions at CoreStates Bank and PNC Bank, and served as President/CEO and Director of United Federal Bank. A 1961 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, he earned his MBA from the Wharton School in 1966. Mr. Pearson served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy on board a destroyer in the Pacific Fleet. His civic service continued with his efforts on the boards of WITF, the Second Mile, Harrisburg and Mainline YMCA’s, and the Hershey Medical Center. Mr. Pearson has also served as Chairman of the State College Chamber of Commerce, Pennsylvania Centre Stage, and the Greater Harrisburg United Way, in addition to serving on the Thrift Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank and as Trustee Emeritus of Juniata College.
